Thyolo, Malawi-Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa visited Conforzi Plantations Limited in Thyolo District on Friday, writes Winston Mwale.
The establishment, which is over 100 years old, specialises in the production of economic and export crops, namely tea and macadamia nuts.
Chakwera said he took Mnangagwa to Conforzi to appreciate Malawi's export potential, especially now that Malawi is seeking new trade frontiers with bilateral partners like Zimbabwe and in larger markets within SADC, Comesa, and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area.
"Comrade Mnangagwa's state visit has, therefore, given us an opportunity to showcase our trade prospects and canvass for new markets with Zimbabwe," Chakwera said.
The two presidents have since headed back to Blantyre, where they will hold a press briefing to communicate in greater detail what transpired during Mnangagwa's state visit.
