Malawi President Lauds NGO Partnerships for National Development Goals

BLANTYRE, Malawi — Malawi's President Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday emphasized the crucial role of non-governmental organizations in achieving the country's long-term development goals during the annual NGO Day celebration at Sanjika Palace, writes Winston Mwale.
The event, themed "Strengthening partnerships and capacity in the NGO sector: Panacea for achieving Malawi2063," highlighted the need for collaboration between the government and NGOs to realize Malawi's vision of becoming a self-reliant, wealthy, and industrialized nation by 2063.
"I always cherish the relationship my administration continues to nurture with this very significant stakeholder in human and community development," Chakwera said.
The president acknowledged NGOs' contributions in various sectors, including essential service delivery, human rights protection, education, women's empowerment, gender equality, and environmental management.
Chakwera noted improvements in compliance, accountability, and revenue within the NGO sector over the past year.
He expressed hope that these advancements would continue to benefit community development efforts.
The Malawi2063 vision aims to transform the country into an inclusively wealthy, industrialized nation within the next four decades.
