Malawi President Hails Muslim World League's 25 Years of Aid

LILONGWE, Malawi— President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi commended the Muslim World League (MWL) for its quarter-century of humanitarian support to the southeast African nation during a celebration at the Bingu International Convention Centre on Monday, writes Sheminah Nkhoma, MANA.
Chakwera praised the organization's swift response to natural disasters and its ongoing aid to orphans and underprivileged communities across Malawi.
"During natural disasters, MWL were among the first to respond with aid. This represents the gift of friendship and goodwill we have with them," the president said.
He highlighted the MWL's contributions to development projects, including the provision of clean water in various parts of the country and care for thousands of orphans.

Jean Sendeza, Malawi's Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, noted the MWL's efforts in empowering women and girls, addressing gender equality, and promoting the rights and welfare of widows in the country.
The Muslim World League, an international Islamic NGO based in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, has been operating in Malawi for 25 years.
The organization aims to promote what it describes as the true message of Islam by advancing moderate values that foster peace, tolerance, and love.
As Malawi continues to face various developmental challenges, the longstanding partnership with the MWL represents a significant source of support for the country's most vulnerable populations.
The celebration not only marked 25 years of collaboration but also reinforced the commitment to ongoing cooperation between Malawi and the Muslim World League in addressing social and economic issues.
