Malawi President, Lazarus Chakwera and the First Lady have arrived safely in Doha for the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC 5), writes Winston Mwale.

The President was greeted with a warm welcome from both Qatari and Malawian delegations upon arrival.

According to President Chakwera, he and the First Lady have already begun preparatory work for Malawi's participation in the conference, which is set to begin this coming Sunday.

The President has expressed his commitment to represent the interests of Malawi during the event and solicit substantial investments to help the country realize its Sustainable Development Goals.

President Chakwera is optimistic that Malawi's participation in the conference will help the country graduate into a middle-income economy.

The conference, which will focus on the Doha Programme of Action, is expected to attract high-level participants from around the world.

The hashtag #LDC5 has been trending on social media as people from around the world share their thoughts on the upcoming conference.

Many are hopeful that the event will provide an be opportunity for the world's least developed countries to access the resources they need to achieve sustainable development.
