Malawi Olympic Committee Seeks Constitution Review

LILONGWE, Malawi - The Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) plans to review its constitution to limit presidents to three terms, in line with the Olympic Charter, MOC president Jappie Mhango said Saturday, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
"We need to be a reforming movement, an organization on the move, and for us in line with the Olympic Charter of course we have to embrace best practices," Mhango said at the committee's Elective General Meeting in Lilongwe.
Mhango, who was re-elected unopposed, said MOC also aims to add two vice presidents responsible for technical and administrative matters.
Francis Kakhuta Banda defeated John Kaputa 36-10 in the election for vice president.

Other elected officials include Dennis Kumwennda as vice general secretary, Andrew Mkwezalamba as treasurer, Pyson Likagwa and James Kaunda as committee members.
They will serve four-year terms.
