Malawi Leader Urges Innovation for Sustainable Development
Chakwera urged investors to boost efforts around "mobilisation of resources towards transformative creativity and innovation."
LILONGWE, Malawi - Malawi's President Lazarus Chakwera marked World Creativity and Innovation Day on Tuesday by calling for life-changing ideas to help achieve the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, writes Winston Mwale.
"Innovation gives chance to our youth to contribute in building sustainable communities through improved governance and service delivery systems across all aspects of human development," Chakwera said.
The Malawian leader said his administration is working to create an environment where innovative concepts can be nurtured.
"We have created an enabling environment to ensure that ideas are well incubated and nurtured to fruition to support national development," he stated.
Chakwera urged investors to boost efforts around "mobilisation of resources towards transformative creativity and innovation."
"I call upon all investors out there to complement efforts around mobilisation of resources towards transformative creativity and innovation," he said. "Step out, create and innovate for the Malawi we want!"
The remarks came as the landlocked southern African country celebrates World Creativity and Innovation Day, which aims to raise awareness about using creativity to find solutions for pressing economic and social needs.
