Malawi, India Discuss High Tariffs on Mango, Macadamia Exports

Lilongwe, Malawi – Malawi's Minister of Trade and Industry, Sosten Gwengwe, has urged India to address high tariffs impacting Malawian mango and macadamia nut exports during a meeting with India's Minister of State, Shir Kirti Vardan Singh, at the 19th CII India Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi, writes Gift Chiponde, MANA.
Gwengwe highlighted the significant impact of these tariffs on the competitiveness of Malawian agricultural products in the Indian market, particularly for smallholder farmers who rely heavily on mango and macadamia nut cultivation for their livelihoods.
The meeting, held August 20-22, aimed to reach a consensus and negotiate reduced tariffs or other trade facilitation measures to benefit Malawian exporters.
