Malawi, Iceland Agree to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

LILONGWE, Malawi — Malawi and Iceland have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in a bid to attain mutual benefits for people from both nations, President Lazarus Chakwera said on Thursday, writes Winston Mwale.
At the end of his five-day working visit, "His Excellency, Bjarni Benediktsson, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iceland, has assured my administration and the people of Malawi that his government will sustain and upscale development projects and programmes in the country," Chakwera said in a statement.
This follows Benediktsson's tour of some projects and programmes in Mangochi District, during which he expressed satisfaction with the impact these are having on rural communities.
"On behalf of the people of Malawi, I have expressed profound gratitude for the investments Iceland has made to improve livelihoods in key sectors of human development such as health, environment management, climate change, women and youth empowerment and fisheries among others," the president added.
