Magongwa: we need urgent help for the school blocks

MALAWI: Fyness Magongwa, a lawmaker from Machinga South East, has asked the government, through Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe, to consider allocating funds to the Ministry of Education for the renovation of the blocks that have been blown off in her constituency.

Magongwa stated that her constituency has been severely impacted by Cyclone Ana and heavy rains and that they urgently require immediate intervention so that those who have been affected can be helped without further delay.

She said two blocks at Mkwakwawira School have been blown off, and three roads have been severely damaged as a result of heavy rains and Cyclone Ana, resulting in significant loss of life.

“It would be great if the Minister of Finance could consider allocating funds to our district councils for the renovation of those infrastructures because it has had a significant impact on the learners," she said.

She added that she would appreciate it if the government could provide food items to those who have been affected as soon as possible so that these victims do not have to suffer any longer.

Magongwa pleaded with the government to consider constructing a technical center in her district for youths to have access to various skills, thereby creating jobs on their own.
