MAFCO FC Recognizes Top Players with First-Ever Awards Ceremony
Four awards were given out in the categories of best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, and best striker.
Malawi: MAFCO FC has recognized its top players from the previous season with its first-ever awards ceremony held on January 7th, 2023, in Salima, writes Fegson Phabuli.
Four awards were given out in the categories of best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, and best striker.
Blessings Kameza was named the best goalkeeper, Paul Njobvu best defender, Bernard Chimaimba best midfielder, and Mphatso Filimoni best striker. Both outstanding players received K25,000 each from sponsor Aqua Fima.
Head coach Stereo Gondwe was also given a special appreciation award of K20,000 from sponsor AKN general dealers.
"We wanted to motivate the players and encourage them to continue playing quality football," said MAFCO FC Vice General Secretary Oscar Lipenga.
The awards were given to honour players who demonstrated outstanding commitment during the season.
"The team will try its level best to keep performing well and fight for the silverware this coming season," said MAFCO FC captain Paul Njobvu.
The event, held at the MAFCO officers' mess, was attended by team players, technical staff, administrative staff, and sponsors.
Brigadier General and Commandant at MAFCO, Bonface Kamwendo, stated that the institution will continue rendering support to the team.
"We are grateful to our sponsors, who played a great role in shaping the team’s form," Kamwendo said.
MAFCO FC finished sixth in the TNM Super League last season.
