MACRA Halts DSTV Tariff Changes with Injunction
MACRA obtains injunction halting Multichoice Malawi from implementing DSTV tariff changes pending ongoing judicial review.
BLANTYRE, Malawi-The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has obtained an interim injunction from the High Court in Blantyre, prohibiting Multichoice Malawi (MCM) from making any changes or modifications to DSTV tariffs, writes Winston Mwale.
The injunction was granted in response to the ongoing judicial review case initiated by Multichoice Malawi against MACRA, according to Daud Suleman, Director General of MACRA.
“It is important to note that any attempt by MCM to implement tariff changes or adjustments during this period will be a violation of the court order and could result in legal consequences. Therefore, the DSTV tariffs will remain unchanged until the conclusion of the matter,” he said in a statement issued Saturday.
He said, MACRA, as the regulatory authority, is committed to fostering a fair and transparent regulatory environment for all stakeholders in the communications sector.
