His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa of Blantyre Diocese has urged newly-ordained priests of the congregation of the Holy Spirit (spiritans) to love and cherish their priesthood.
Speaking during the double celebration of the silver jubilee of Spiritans in Malawi and the ordination of seven deacons to priests from the spiritan party, Msusa advised them to consider priesthood as a gift from above.
‘‘Love your priesthood as it is a special gift from God and make sure wherever you go you make the sacrament of repentance a priority in your line of work,’’ said Msusa
Msusa also edged Christians and parents of the ordained priest to pray for them as they are going to different countries including Malawi to preach the word of God.
‘‘Let us join hands in praying for our newly ordained priest to win more souls to our Lord Christ Jesus without facing many hardships,’’ said Msusa
Hu further thanked various catholic priest and sisters for their continuous effort of spreading the word of God across the globe.
‘‘From the bottom of my heart I would like to appreciate the tireless effort of my fellow priests and sisters as we continue spreading the word of God especially in places and to people who have not yet received Christ,’’ added Msusa.
Meanwhile, the superior of the spiritans in Malawi Father Damiano Gabriel expressed his gratitude to God for all the great thing God has showed their party.
‘‘As we have witnessed the ordination of the seven priest from Malawi and have been sent all over the word as missionaries we Give glory and Thanks to God,” said Father Gabriel.
He further added that the ordination of the seven priests means that their party and the church as whole is growing.
“We do not take it for granted as the newly ordained priest have been sent as missionaries to other countries to spread the word of God. This simply means that more souls will be won for Christ,’’ said Father Gabriel.
The Spiritans Party came to Malawi in 1971 and are found in seven communities in Blantyre Archdiocese as well as Mangochi and Dedza dioceses.
