As the Love Malawi Festival, which was expected to happen last year, started on Friday, organisers are keeping their fingers crossed to win more people for Christ.
Speaking in an interview with MANA at the opening of the festival on Friday Henry Kumwenda, the festival director Lewis Kumwenda says they have slated various activities for the festival in order to achieve their aim.
‘‘We have different activities for the youth for example action sports, music, and also preaching the word of God.
‘‘We have been preparing for this festival for almost a year and we have partnered with different churches to make this a colourful event,” said Kumwenda.
He further said they expect to win more people for Christ and at the same time to bring hope to the nation during this time of a pandemic.
‘‘We are bringing hope, love, unity to the nation and at the same time people are going to hear the word of God and be saved,’’ added Kumwenda.
The organisers also revealed why they suggested holding the festival again in Malawi as they move from country to country in Africa.
“The Lord just pressed upon our hearts to come back to Malawi to hold another festival and we are so thankful to God,’’ added Kumwenda.
Meanwhile one of the audience Apostle Lipenga from the Powerful Living Christ Church in Mpemba said he is very grateful to have the festival here in Malawi for the second time.
‘’I am very happy to have the festival here because Malawi will change as we are passing through challenging times. God has remembered us with this festival and I believe that by the end of this festival many souls will come to Jesus Christ and Malawi will change,’’ said Lipenga.
Lipenga also appreciates the fact that the festival has brought together different churches to share the love of God.
The organiser’s will hold a similar festival in Ghana next year and in Kenya in 2023.
