Link Community Development to Support Malawi Education Sector
Education Minister Madalitso Wilima welcomed the project, saying it aligns with government policies to improve education outcomes.
LILONGWE, Malawi — Link Community Development Malawi (LCDM) has received funding for a research project aimed at scaling up gender inclusion and safeguarding approaches in education, the organization announced Wednesday, writes Wendi Mkandawire.
The project, "Scaling-up Innovative Gender Inclusion and Safeguarding Approaches: Evidence from Malawi, Ethiopia and Uganda," is supported by the Global Partnership for Education's Knowledge and Innovation Exchange.
Harold Kuombola, LCDM country director, said the project will help the Ministry of Education expand innovations from previous UK aid-funded initiatives.
"We want to scale up innovations from our previous project," Kuombola said.
"We are looking at what government can take forward to ensure all learners benefit, including complementary basic education."
Education Minister Madalitso Wilima welcomed the project, saying it aligns with government policies to improve education outcomes.
"We are looking to not leave any learner behind, be it those with disabilities or others," Wilima said.
"This project will take everyone along for better education for all."
The research project will be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the University of Malawi's Centre for Educational Research and Training, Link Education International in Scotland and the University of Glasgow's Robert Owen Centre.
It aims to generate knowledge and develop communities of practice focused on complementary basic education.
