Lilongwe City Council Summit rescheduled to May 24th due to Cyclone Freddy, writes Catherine Tembo.
Lilongwe, Malawi - The Lilongwe City Council Summit, originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 23rd, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, according to a statement issued by Chief Public Relations Officer Tamara Chafunya, writes Catherine Tembo.
The change in date is attributed to unforeseen technical challenges that are beyond the council's control.
In the statement, Chafunya expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the sudden change and assured the public that the starting time and venue of the summit would remain unchanged.
Despite the shift in date, participants can expect the same agenda and programme as previously announced.
This is the second time the Lilongwe City Council Summit has undergone a change in schedule.
Initially planned for March of this year, the summit was cancelled due to the devastating impact of Cyclone Freddy, which claimed numerous lives.
The decision to reschedule the summit was made in order to allow the nation to mourn and pay respect to those who lost their lives in the cyclone.
The Lilongwe City Council Summit serves as an important platform for discussing key issues and developments related to the city's governance, infrastructure, and overall development.
Participants from various sectors and stakeholders are expected to attend the summit to engage in constructive dialogue and contribute to the future planning and growth of Lilongwe.
