LIKOMA, Malawi— Youths from Atimasukirane Club in Likoma district say they are contributing to Malawi2063 through various initiatives they are implementing, writes Oliver Malibisa.
This was stated Monday during a business orientation for women from Group Village Head Chalunda, organized by the youth club.
Atrick Munthali, advisor for Atimasukirane Youth Club, said youths have a role to play in the country's development, such as participating in agriculture (horticulture), entrepreneurship, encouraging school-going youths to work hard in their education, and promoting mindset change among youths.
Ruth Chirwa, a club member, said she has benefited greatly from the club.
She now makes furniture on her own, like boats, tables, and chairs, and is financially stable.
Chirwa also reminded youth in the district that they can contribute significantly to the country's development and should refrain from immoral behaviors.
Group Village Head Chalunda applauded the club for its initiatives, noting they will help youths avoid immoral behavior.
Likoma District Youth Officer Felix Banda encouraged youths to "put extra gear" to achieve their goals.
Apart from conducting voluntary training with different groups, Timasukirane Youth Club also promotes education with motivational talks and cares for the elderly and orphans.
