LIKOMA, Malawi— The Likoma archdeaconry of the Anglican church will host a three-day Ladies' Day conference expected to attract over 400 participants from various guilds, writes Oliver Malibisa.
According to the archdeaconry's mother's union advisor Veronica Binga, it will be the first such conference held on the island and will be graced by dignitaries including the bishop's wife, Mrs. Bishop Magangani.
The conference comes as the archdeaconry is also expected to be consecrated as a standalone diocese, further encouraging the religious empowerment of women in the church.
"Mary is the focal point of our Salvation. The conference therefore is important for the nurturing of our Christian Faith," said Very Rev. Canon Peterson Selwyn Binga, archdeacon and dean of the Likoma Anglican Cathedral.
Binga urged attendees to emulate Mary's humility despite her honored status in the story of salvation.
"Likoma Sub-Archdeaconry will boost the confidence of running as a Diocese. The success of the conference will boost the confidence of Likoma becoming a Diocese," he emphasized.
