LILONGWE, Malawi - Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and JK Productions are set to sign a memorandum of understanding before the start of the 2024 season to forge closer ties, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
Speaking Saturday night in Lilongwe during a football legends get-together, JK Productions founder and board chairperson Jim Kalua, said the agreement will address issues including former players' welfare and how they can contribute to football development.
"Among other things the get-together at Bunda was also meant to share some of the resolutions which were made by the board and FAM," Kalua said, calling for a collective effort from legends to aid sport development and recognize players who served the country.
Former Civo United and Blue Eagles player Gabriel Chirwa, now Civil Service United team manager, said it's important for veteran players to come together and chart a way forward to instill expertise in the current generation.
Former Wanderers, Mafco, Escom and Kamuzu Barracks defender Oscar Chapitapasi also commended the initiative for legends to unite around their welfare.
