Lawmaker Kazombo in road upgrading drive in his constituency
Kazombo stated that he is doing all of this with the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in order to help his constituents have proper roads, schools, bridges, and so on.
Malawi: Member of Parliament for Kasungu East, Fred Madalitso Kazombo, who is also the first deputy speaker of parliament, is upgrading roads in his constituency of Kasungu East, shortly after completing the Nthema bridge.
Kazombo stated that he is doing all of this with the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in order to help his constituents have proper roads, schools, bridges, and so on.
In a special interview with AfricaBrief, Kazombo stated that his constituency is very remote and that the majority of the people are farmers, thus the need for proper roads.
"Because of poor roads, my people used to have difficulty transporting their produce to good markets in town," he explained.
“We built a bridge at Nthema, which necessitated the need to grade the roads.”
Maxwell Chimimba, one of the constituents, has expressed gratitude to Kazombo for his efforts to develop Kasungu East.
"This is a very welcome idea for us, and we are grateful to Kazombo," he said.
“Not only are roads being built, but the man is also building bridges and school buildings.”
They are constructing a 50-kilometre road in the first phase.
Kazombo denied that this was part of the 2025 campaign, but stated that it was done for the love of his people.
