Labour Rights Organisation Trains Employers on Conflict Resolution in the Workplace
LARO hopes the workshop equips managers to prevent disputes from escalating through open communication and fair dispute resolution processes.
Blantyre, Malawi - The Labour Rights Organisation (LARO) has urged employers to apply new skills learned around preventing and resolving workplace disputes, writes Mayamiko Phiri.
In a day-long workshop held in Blantyre on Thursday, LARO regional labour officer Frank Adini emphasized the importance of effective labour practices.
"Issues like conditions of service, unfair wages, termination and harassment can fuel conflicts if not properly addressed," Adini said in his facilitation.
The workshop aimed to build participant capacity in areas like disciplinary procedures, industrial relations and negotiating differences.
One attendee, Lot Kaira, praised LARO for the enlightening session.
"This training has shown us strategies to handle disputes and maintain positive employee relations," he noted.
Attending the event were human resources managers, labour lawyers, industrial experts and practitioners from public and private sector organisations across the southern region.
LARO hopes the workshop equips managers to prevent disputes from escalating through open communication and fair dispute resolution processes.
A peaceful workplace remains a national goal under Malawi's Vision 2063.
