Organizers are hoping an eclectic lineup blending South African star power with beloved Malawian hitmakers will spark enthusiasm and ticket sales for the 2024 edition.
LILONGWE, Malawi— Organizers of the popular Ku Mingoli Music Bash have unveiled plans for the latest iteration of the event, set for August 3rd, 2024 at Lilongwe's Civil Stadium, writes Catherine Tembo.
The bash announcement took place Thursday night amid networking for event stakeholders aimed at building momentum.
"We are still in talks with other international artists from countries like Nigeria and Jamaica. Once we finalize talks, we'll make a proper announcement," said Shadreck Kalukusha, Executive Director of organizing partner Sound Addict.
However, Kalukusha confirmed that South African rapper Casper Nyovest and vocalist Young Stunna will headline the musical showcase.
A deep roster of top Malawian talent will fill out the lineup.
Among local artists confirmed are award-winning afro-pop singer Zeze, gospel breakout Lulu, Sean Morgan, Pop Young, Kelly Divine, Saint, Tygrin and Gibo Pearson. Nyasa hip hop icon Temwa will also grace the Civil Stadium stage.
For mobile provider Tecno, a new sponsor this year, the bash represents a chance to back Malawian musicians while expanding the company's reach.
"We have embarked on a journey to promote art in Malawi to help uplift musician talents," said Tecno Marketing head Willy Kapenuka.
He vowed this sponsorship would help spur the domestic entertainment industry.
