The event will be hosted by another internationally recognised artist Nadia Nakai from South Africa.
LILONGWE, Malawi— Kell Kambwiri, otherwise popularly known as Kell Kay in music circles, has said all is set for the epic celebration of his 10-year music anniversary this Sunday, writes Howard Mlozi.
The celebration is scheduled for Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe and will be headlined by Kell Kay himself and international stars like Nigeria’s Ayra Starr and Gemini Major (South Africa), Gloria Del Mar (Namibia) and Prince Luv (Zambia).
The event will be hosted by another internationally recognised artist Nadia Nakai from South Africa.
Gwamba, Zeze Kingston, Hyphen, Kineo Edifest, Toast, Suffix, Eli Njuchi, Saint, Wendy Harawa, Malinga Mafia, Driemo, Tuno, Lucius Banda, Pop Young and Lulu are the lineup of the local supporting acts.
Kell Kay described the celebration as significant to his musical career.
“This is a big day for me and Kell Kay and his fans because it is the time we are celebrating the successful journey and the brand that we have built together as a family,” said Kell Kay.
Kell Kay is one big name that does not ring a bell on Malawi’s R&B/Afro Pop scene. He is very talented with a distinctive style of music delivery coupled with great voice.
He sings with passion and dedication to captivate the ear and soul.
He came on the music scene a decade ago with some mesmerising tunes like Ndilore Ndipite as an underdog.
But as time goes he graduated into a full-blown artist, joining the league of Malawi’s crème de la crème of music.
Since then he has competed with giants at different stages, including Malawi’s mega annual music festival, the Sand Music Festival1.
Kell Kay’s music strength largely revolves around love themes, making him one of the favourites, particularly among female fans, who often prove to be diehards of romantic jams.
Along the journey Kell Kay has released love-filled hits like Mwano feat Martse. On the track he glows with over confidence to have found the best love ever to the extent of looking down on others.
Basi which features Saint appears to be an extension of Mwano on which Kelly Kay stood ground on one woman.
‘Pa iwe basi/ Pa iwe ndinathera,’ he sings with courage.
Kelly Kay Lollipop sweet-like voice is a big deal. He is just a likeable guy whom every person can go along with. Excuse me ladies, I did not say he is flexible to go out with. Spare his life and family from the nightmares of this world.
Aside being a gifted studio artist, Kell Kay is a charming stage character whose lovely sets have magnetic power to pull the audience to the dance floor.
His voice projection is incredible. It enables him to hit different chords during live act. He can hit the low and high notes to ignite the most arousing romantic or dancing mood effortlessly.
After impressing and being around for some time, Kell Kay has come to celebrate the summit of his 10-year professional music career.
The silky-voiced award-winning singer of Hello Mr. Yesu (feat Gwamba) and Loss fame has grown from strength to strength since the day he launched his career.
And fans are pregnant with expectations to confirm this growth during the 10th anniversary celebration come Sunday.
The event simply promises fireworks.
