Karonga United Replica Jerseys Expected in Ten Days
The club raised K3.5 million after selling out on launch day in November when the team also unveiled its 2024 season jersey in Lilongwe, Banda said.
KARONGA, Malawi - TNM Super League side Karonga United is expecting to receive a second shipment of 250 replica jerseys in seven days after a successful sellout of the first shipment, club chairperson Alufeyo Dicon Chipanga Banda said, writes Victor Musongole.
The club raised K3.5 million after selling out on launch day in November when the team also unveiled its 2024 season jersey in Lilongwe, Banda said.
"We had less than 15 jerseys on the launch day and we raised K3.5 million kwacha and there are more people inquiring and we expect our next shipment of 250 jerseys to be in before Jan. 10 unless otherwise," Banda said.
When asked to analyze his team's performance last season, Banda described it as successful despite struggling in the first round.
He added the one game per week format improved teams' performances this season as players had more time to rest compared to the previous season.
"We struggled especially in the first round because we were building a new team and financially we were not able to meet requirements but all in all it was a fantastic season," Banda said.
"On the other hand we had good games because of one game per week since players had enough time to rest."
Karonga United failed to qualify for the last 8 for the second straight season, finishing 9th with 37 points.
But that was up two spots from 11th the season before.
"We're eager to get the new jerseys to fans," Banda said.
"They've been clamoring for them since the first batch sold out so quickly."
