Kaninga Bridge Project to Boost Trade, Transportation in Salima North West
It will also help students at the newly built Khotekhote Community Day Secondary School access transportation, especially during the rainy season.
SALIMA, Malawi — Salima North West member of parliament Enock Phale says the Kaninga bridge project currently under construction in Khotekhote, traditional authority Khombedza, will boost trade, transportation, and education standards in his constituency, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
"The timely construction of Kaninga Bridge in my constituency will greatly help to facilitate distribution of goods and movement and contribute to the economic growth Salima North West and its neighbouring constituencies in the process," Phale said in an interview Sunday.
Phale said the new bridge will help ease longstanding transportation challenges.
It will also help students at the newly built Khotekhote Community Day Secondary School access transportation, especially during the rainy season.
"We want to ensure that the transit time that is being spent by the community, most especially farmers, patients, and students who are using this bridge, is reduced tremendously for better Salima North West," Phale said.
Frank Chikafumbwa, executive director of the Salima Young Politicians Union, applauded the parliamentarian's commitment to the project.
"The Kaninga Bridge project was worth the effort," Chikafumbwa said, adding that he believes it will transform transportation dynamics in surrounding communities, constituencies, and villages and benefit the population.
