K72 Million Chinkhwiri Police Unit Enhances Public Safety in Dowa

DOWA, Malawi— The Dowa district council has officially inaugurated the K72 million Chinkhwiri modern Police unit in the Traditional Authority Chakhaza area of Dowa district today, writes Mphatso M'bang'ombe.
The long-awaited project is set to bolster law enforcement capabilities and prioritise the safety and well-being of the area's residents.
Mayamiko Kambewa, the Chairperson of the Dowa district council, expressed enthusiasm during the opening ceremony, emphasising the critical role this development plays in enhancing public safety.
"The Chinkwili Police Unit is a testament to our commitment to ensure the protection of our community and combat crime effectively," Kambewa stated.
Enos Chitatanga, the Member of Parliament representing the Dowa North constituency, applauded the construction of the modern police unit in his jurisdiction.
He highlighted the unit's significance in promoting public safety and crime prevention.
"The inauguration of the unit is a commendable effort towards achieving a crime-free society," Chitatanga affirmed.
Senior Chief Chakhaza also lauded both the council and community members for their collaborative efforts in bringing this project to fruition.
