Malawi: The Jamaican reggae dancehall star Jahmiel has arrived in Malawi via Lilongwe's Kamuzu International Airport ahead of the Salima Lakeshore District Music Festival this weekend.
Jahmiel, best known for his hit song "A Better Tomorrow," is set to perform for the first time in Malawi at this year's HangOut Music Festival, which will take place at the Kambuma Hotel. When Jahmiel arrived Friday afternoon, he promised fireworks during the music festival.
Tamika Milimbo, the coordinator of the HangOut Music Festival, confirmed to AfricaBrief on Tuesday that Jahmiel will be performing in Malawi, as well as other international artists such as Blaq Diamond from South Africa. The event will take place from Friday to Sunday.
Tamika revealed in an interview that the Ministry of Health has approved the event's organisers.
A cholera outbreak has been reported in almost every district of the country, including Salima.
After learning of the cholera cases, the organisers of the HangOut Music Festival announced a date change for the music festival on October 24, 2022. The festival was originally scheduled to take place from October 28th to October 30th.
Other local acts performing at the event include the man of the moment, Gibo Pearson, whose song "Izathera Ma Penalty" has gone viral, as well as Tay Grin.
