International Journalists Gather in Sweden for SKUP Investigative Journalism Masterclass

Gothenburg, Sweden - Almost 40 investigative journalists hailing from Asia, Africa, Ukraine, and the MENA region have convened in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the annual SKUP international investigative journalism Masterclass, hosted by the Norwegian Foundation for Investigative Reporting (SKUP), writes Maureen Kawerama.
The event, well-known for fostering knowledge exchange, skill development, and networking among top investigative journalists worldwide, is drawing participants from various media backgrounds, including print, broadcast, and digital.
John Bones, Managing Director of SKUP, expressed enthusiasm about this year's masterclass, emphasizing the diverse group of attendees.
He stated, "We are thrilled to welcome over 40 journalists to this year's masterclass, all of whom share a common passion for investigative reporting. It's a testament to the global reach and importance of this event."
Ayen Bayani, a journalist from the Philippines, expressed her gratitude to the SKUP team for the opportunity. She believes the masterclass will equip her with new investigative journalism skills that will greatly benefit her career.
Marthe Akissi, another participant from Cote d'Ivoire, shared her experience, stating, "This masterclass has sharpened my skills and deepened my commitment to uncovering the stories that matter most to our societies. It's an invaluable experience."
This year's SKUP International Investigative Journalism Masterclass will cover a range of topics, including Video/Visual Verification, Advanced Internet Search, how to construct investigative reporting, and Basic Excel.
As the journalists immerse themselves in these sessions, they aim to enhance their abilities to bring critical issues to light through rigorous investigation.
