Innobuild Company Boosts Struggling Mbongozi School in Malawi
The school was among four that scored poorly in the just-released 2023 Malawi School Certificate of Education Examinations.
Kasungu, Malawi — Innobuild Company Limited, a prominent Malawian firm, took a philanthropic step forward on Thursday by visiting and offering support to students and teachers at Mbongozi Community Day Secondary School, writes Fletcher Chiponda.
The school was among four that scored poorly in the just-released 2023 Malawi School Certificate of Education Examinations.
In a bid to understand the root causes of the poor performance, Innobuild Limited Company's Chief Executive Officer, Billy Chiwotha, personally led the visit. Chiwotha expressed the company's commitment to addressing the educational challenges facing the nation.
"The aim of this visit was to see and help map the way forward on what is contributing to the poor performance of the school, hence trying to find solutions to the problem. As a Malawian company, we aim to achieve all the country's aspirations by helping people to be educated and independent," said Chiwotha.
Teachers at the school shared their insights during the visit, highlighting key factors contributing to the academic struggles. They pointed to "frequent absences of students, immoral behaviours, and a lack of unity between parents and teachers" as the primary causes of the school's poor performance.
In a tangible display of support, Innobuild donated essential supplies to the students, including exercise books, pens, and other educational materials.
The recent release of the 2023 Malawi School Certificate of Education Examinations by the Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) revealed that four schools, including Mbongozi Community Day Secondary School, scored poorly.
Innobuild Company Limited's intervention serves as a beacon of hope for students and educators as they strive for better educational outcomes.
