Impact Africa Launches Sustainability Academy for Africa
The academy supports Impact Africa's mission of advancing sustainable development practices across Africa through consulting, training and capacity building.
NAIROBI, Kenya— Sustainability advisory firm Impact Africa Consulting Limited has launched the Impact Africa Academy, an initiative aimed at providing sustainability education across the African continent, writes Winston Mwale.
The academy will offer free and paid courses tailored to various career levels, supporting professionals transitioning into and thriving in sustainability roles.
Courses include a Sustainability Masterclass for executives, Sustainability Practitioner courses, resource mobilization, health security and gender mainstreaming.
"Africa faces unique sustainability challenges and opportunities. Our goal is to equip professionals and organizations with the knowledge and skills to drive sustainable development," said Dr. Edward Mungai, partner and lead consultant at Impact Africa.
With few African businesses fully integrating sustainable practices despite growing importance of environmental and social governance, the need for sustainability education is urgent. Consumers are demanding sustainable products.
"Our courses are practical, ensuring participants can apply what they learn," said Owen Muruthi, a certified Impact Africa trainer.
The academy has already trained nearly 100 students from nine African countries in globally recognized sustainability reporting through its GRI certification program launched this year.
It recently shortlisted 35 top sustainability practitioners from 19 African countries for a fellowship.
Courses are accredited by Credly, providing recognized certification and digital badges.
