LILONGWE, Malawi- AfricaBrief, an online publication focusing on solutions journalism, has been elected into the Media Council of Malawi (MCM) Board of Trustees, writes Staff Reporter.
AfricaBrief was voted in unopposed during the MCM Elective General Assembly held in Lilongwe on Friday, as it was the sole nominee in the online media category.
"We are honoured to join the board and look forward to working with other media leaders to advance ethical journalism in Malawi," said AfricaBrief Editor-in-Chief, Winston Mwale.
The media council works to promote ethical and professional standards among journalists in Malawi.
Board members serve a four-year term setting policies and initiatives aimed at improving media quality and accountability.
Key issues include training, advocacy and mediating disputes.
Launched in 2019, AfricaBrief publishes original reporting and commentary focused on social, economic and political progress in Africa.
Its solutions-based coverage provides constructive alternatives to mainstream narratives.
