Government Prioritizes Tourism Development in Malawi

LILONGWE, Malawi - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Uchizi Mkandawire, has emphasized the government's commitment to improving tourism in Malawi, writes Judgement Katika.
Speaking on Friday at the commemoration of 35 years of service by Satguru Travel Group at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, Mkandawire stated that tourism remains a crucial sector in the implementation of the Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining (ATM) strategy.
Representing Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, Mkandawire highlighted the government's determination to accelerate tourism growth in order to position Malawi as a favorable tourism destination in Eastern and Southern Africa.
He noted that this commitment is reflected in the increased allocation to the Ministry of Tourism in the 2024/2025 budget, which will support the development of both the tourism and wildlife sectors.

Satguru Malawi Branch Manager, Swapnil Karkhile, also praised the Ministry of Tourism for its active role in promoting and championing tourism growth.
