Speaking ON Wednesday at an event to launch a community campaign on girls’ education at Nazombe Primary School in Phalombe, Deputy Minister of Education Nancy Chaola Mdooko highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder efforts in achieving the country’s development goals.
The campaign aims to provide life skills education and psychosocial support to girls affected by Cyclone Freddy.
"Through Life Skills Education, the Ministry provides information which is age appropriate, accurate and scientifically proven and culturally accepted," said Deputy Minister Mdooko.
"The Ministry of Education also promotes psychosocial counselling through guidance and counselling for the learners."
Mdooko emphasized that in line with Malawi2063 development vision, partnerships between government, civil society and external partners are critical for reaching vulnerable groups.
"In this vein, we support the efforts by Oxfam in reaching out to the learners with such an intervention. This is what it means when we talk about multi-stakeholder approach," she added.
