Government Commits to Boosting Agricultural Production
Senior Chief Lukwa said the development will go a long way in shortening the 40-kilometre distance that farmers used to walk to get EPA’s services in other areas.
KASUNGU, Malawi— Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda says the government remains committed to revamping the country’s agricultural production to ensure sustainable food security, writes Wendi Mkandawire.
He was speaking on Saturday, August 31, in Kasungu on the sidelines of the official opening ceremony of Tchesa Agricultural Extension Planning Area (EPA).
“This development is a milestone for our farmers residing in this area. They will be equipped with skills related to agriculture by Extension Agriculture, which will also influence the production,” Banda said.
Member of Parliament for Kasungu West Constituency Jailos Bonongwe echoed Banda’s sentiments, saying this will improve agricultural productivity in his area as farmers will be equipped with essential skills through capacity building.
