Global Peace Summit Marks Decade of Advocacy, Plans Future Action
As the summit approaches, HWPL continues its commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration across borders, aiming to create a more peaceful world for future generations.
SEOUL, South Korea— The 10th Anniversary of the HWPL World Peace Summit, set for September 18, 2024, will celebrate a decade of global peace efforts while charting a course for future collaboration, writes Winston Mwale.
Under the theme "Creating World Peace Community Through Regional Collaboration," the event will span 122 countries, reflecting on achievements since 2014 and strategizing for continued progress.
The Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace organization, launched the summit in 2014, bringing together over a thousand global leaders from various sectors across 140 countries.
HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee emphasized the urgency of peace at last year's event, stating, "Peace cannot be achieved through words alone. We must leave peace as a legacy to the global community where our descendants will live."
The upcoming summit aims to strengthen regional networks and harness collective capacities to address local peace threats.
Sessions will be held at different levels in participating countries, focusing on conflict resolution, religious harmony, and the implementation of legal instruments for lasting peace.
HWPL's slogan, "Let's have everyone become a messenger of peace," underscores the organization's belief in individual responsibility for promoting peace.
The summit will feature a collection of peace messages from people worldwide, representing a global desire for unity.
Over the past decade, HWPL and its partners have worked to address global challenges including military tensions, economic disputes, climate change, and cyber security threats.
The organization has focused on establishing a peace governance framework that connects international organizations, governments, and civil societies.
As the summit approaches, HWPL continues its commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration across borders, aiming to create a more peaceful world for future generations.
