Ganda Donates Pocket Money to Students Ahead of MSCE Exams
Gladys Ganda donates K500,000 to 41 Kalambo students.
Nsanje, Malawi - Parliamentarian Gladys Ganda has donated K500,000 in pocket money to 41 students at Kalambo Community Day Secondary School, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
The students are due to start their Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams in the coming weeks.
Ganda, who is also the chairperson of the Budget and Finance Committee of Parliament, donated on Friday during a graduation ceremony in her constituency.
She said she was aware that the recent tropical cyclone Freddy had devastated crops in the area, and that many families were struggling to make ends meet.
"This amount should help you as pocket money as you will be sitting for your examinations," she said.
"I want you to focus on your studies and not worry about your families."
Ganda also donated mathematical instrument sets, pens, and rulers to each student.
"I am very grateful to the Member of Parliament for her support," said Tsala Zuze, one of the students who received the donation.
"I will work hard in the exams so that I can achieve my goal."
This is the first time that Ganda has donated such a large amount of money to secondary schools in her constituency.
A total of 41 students will be sitting for the 2023 MSCE exams at Kalambo Community Day Secondary School, of whom 21 are female.
