Fount for Nations Promotes Inclusive Communication for Differently-Abled Children

LILONGWE, Malawi - In a concerted effort to advance inclusivity for differently-abled children, Fount for Nations, an organization committed to promoting inclusivity for children with disabilities, has embarked on a mission to promote inclusive, diverse and equitable communication practices, writes Bridget Mwanoka.
The organization underscores the importance of inclusive communication, particularly for individuals with disabilities. Connex Kafera, Advocacy and Communications Officer at Fount for Nations, announced a strategic partnership with the National Democratic Institute to unveil a transformative toolkit named Uthenga wa Onse (Communication for All).
This initiative aims to propel inclusive communication strategies across various sectors and is slated for its inaugural launch in Lilongwe this Friday.
Kafera elucidated the significance of the toolkit as a pivotal resource for facilitating effective communication with diverse audiences, including persons with disabilities, marginalized communities, and other vulnerable groups.
Notable features of the Uthenga Wa Onse inclusive communication guide encompass accessible language, inclusive design, respectful representation, and customized engagement strategies across various communication platforms and formats.
"The main objectives of Uthenga Wa Onse are to promote inclusivity, diversity, and equity in communication practices," Kafera stated.
"We seek to raise awareness about the importance of inclusive communication and provide practical guidance for implementing inclusive communication strategies across different contexts."
The toolkit encompasses practical advice, research findings, and best practices for developing inclusive communication materials, conducting campaigns, and effectively engaging diverse audiences.
