📰 Former Malawi International and Civil Service United Defender Praises Jim Kalua for Supporting Former Players' Welfare
Apart from focusing on the welfare of former players, JK Productions also has plans to establish football academies.
LILONGWE, Malawi— Former Malawi international footballer and Civil Service United defender, Willy Chabwinja, has lauded the efforts of football administrator Jim Kalua, who heads JK Productions, for his dedicated work in improving the welfare of former players in the country, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
Chabwinja expressed his concerns during a recent interview, highlighting that the country's football governing body and other stakeholders often overlook the welfare of football legends who have contributed significantly to the sport's development.
"It's worrisome that our football governing body and other stakeholders tend to put a blind eye to improving the welfare of our legends," Chabwinja remarked.
He went on to urge other sports administrators to follow in Jim Kalua's footsteps and support initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges faced by former footballers when they retire.
In response to Chabwinja's commendation, Jim Kalua, the director of JK Productions, called upon well-wishers to provide financial support to the initiative to help achieve its intended objectives.
"It is our responsibility as citizens of this country to collectively look after the welfare of our legends and empower the next generation of football stars in the process," Kalua emphasized.
Apart from focusing on the welfare of former players, JK Productions also has plans to establish football academies, a player scouting department, and resource offices as part of its broader initiative.
Among the football legends currently under the care of JK Productions are Lawrence Wire, Kinna Phiri, Young Chimodzi, Peterkins Kayira, Meck Mwase, Gabriel Chirwa, Andrew Chikhosi, Bob and Albert Mpinganira, Chancy Gondwe, Simplex Nthala, Fisher Kondowe, and Ulanda Kalua, among others.
