Football Association of Malawi Trains Mzuzu Stadium Stewards on Crowd Control
The training aimed to educate stewards on effective crowd control measures and proper conduct during games to ensure the safety of spectators.
Mzuzu, Malawi - In an effort to enhance security at the stadium, the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) conducted a training session for stewards at Mzuzu Stadium on Wednesday, writes Victor Musongole.
The training aimed to educate stewards on effective crowd control measures and proper conduct during games to ensure the safety of spectators.
Pascal Mkuta, FAM's National Chief Steward, emphasized the importance of the training in protecting people at the stadium.
"With the training, we expect the stewards to improve their conduct and crowd control measures to ensure the safety of everyone present," Mkuta said.
Participants of the training, such as Hannah Jere, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills.
"The training has sharpened our understanding of how best we can do our work to protect people and infrastructure," Jere stated.
Harrison Kaonga, Head of Stewards in the northern region, commended FAM for organizing the training session.
However, he also urged the association to conduct such training more frequently.
"We are happy that the stewards have finally been trained, but we hope to see continued improvement. Similar training should be done more frequently, as the last training was conducted in 2018," Kaonga advised.
The training attracted a total of 50 stewards, including representatives from Moyale Barracks and Ekwendeni Hammers football teams.
FAM plans to hold similar training sessions in Rumphi and Karonga in the near future.
