First Lady hands over K95m girls' hostel to school

Malawi: The First Lady, Monica Chakwera, handed over a K95 million girls' hostel to Katowo Community Day Secondary School in Rumphi district on October 31st, 2022.
Shaping Our Future, the First Lady's organisation, built the hostel with financial assistance from the Japanese Embassy.
During the ceremony, Senior Chief Katumbi stated that the hostel was a welcome addition to the community.
"The hostel will improve access to education for girls who walk for approximately 10 kilometres to school," he said.
The hostel will house many girls from the three surrounding Traditional Authorities, Zolokere, Katumbi, and Chikulamayembe.
