FCB Rolls Out Digital App Promotion
First Capital Bank introduces 'Changu Pa Phone' app promotion to encourage digital transactions and offer instant prizes to participants.
Blantyre, Malawi-First Capital Bank (FCB) has rolled out a digital app promotion dubbed "Changu Pa Phone" in a bid to migrate its customers to digital platforms, writes Steven Godfrey Mkweteza.
The promotion, which targets to recruit over 10,000 customers countrywide, will see participants go away with instant prizes such as T-shirts, golf shirts, football jerseys, caps, and cash prizes once they have entered the promotion by dialling *111#.
FCB Head of Marketing Twikale Chirwa said the initiative is in response to the government's call to encourage people to use digital products for easy transactions.
"This world has gone digital," Chirwa said.
"Therefore, this facility intends to respond to the modern world's demands as it is very easy, safer, and more convenient as compared to other transactions."
Customers will be able to access the facility through the branches of the bank, supermarkets, universities, and colleges.
One of the prospective customers, Gloria Goba, described the initiative as timely.
"This will make us pay bills very easily as well as reduce congestion in banking halls and morbidity challenges to access banking services," she said.
Goba, however, asked the bank to look into the network hitches so as to make the promotion successful.
"On top of that, a good percentage of customers in the country, most especially in the rural areas, do not have smartphones to transact. Surely, this will make them not participate in the promotion," she said.
