FCB Nyasa Big Bullets drawn against FC Dragon in CAF Champions League preliminary round, upcoming matches to take place in Equatorial Guinea and Malawi.
BLANTYRE, MALAWI - FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have been drawn against FC Dragon of Equatorial Guinea in the preliminary round of the 2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, writes Happy Valirani.
The draw, which took place in Cairo, Egypt, on July 25, 2023, sets the stage for an exciting battle between the two teams.
The first leg of the matches is scheduled to be played from August 18 to 20, 2023, with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets travelling to Equatorial Guinea to face FC Dragon.
A week later, the Bullets will host FC Dragon in Malawi for the second leg of the match.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets' Head Coach, Calisto Pasuwa, commented on the upcoming challenge, expressing optimism while acknowledging the tough competition ahead.
"It's going to be a tough game considering that these are opponents whom we don't know. However, our team has an idea of what the Champions League is all about," said Pasuwa.
"We have been building a new team and need to put everything in order for us to advance to the next round."
Pasuwa further emphasised the importance of tactical play in the tournament, stating, "The boys saw how the Champions League is played—it's not just about running everywhere. We need to be very tactical to progress to the next round."
Having previously played against Mozambican clubs and Yanga FC of Tanzania during the 2023 season preparations, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have gained valuable experience.
However, Coach Pasuwa indicated that the team may still consider adding new players to strengthen the squad.
"We have almost 33 players, and we want to evaluate those who are not performing well. If necessary, we may release some players and potentially beef up the squad," Pasuwa added.
The winner of the clash between FC Dragon and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will proceed to face TP Mazembe FC from the Democratic Republic of Congo in the second round of the CAF Champions League.
