FAWEMA Urges Active Participation in Promoting Sexual Reproductive Health Rights in Dowa District

DOWA, Malawi— The Forum for African Women Educationalist in Malawi (FAWEMA) has called on school structures and community members to actively participate in promoting sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) in Dowa district, writes Mphatso M'bang'ombe.
Speaking during the opening of the two-day training at Kasangu Primary School in the area of Senior Chief Chakhaza in Dowa, FAWEMA's Project Officer in the district, Clement Kwaule, said the training aims to equip School Management Committees (SMC), Chiefs, Parents Teachers Associations (PTAs), and Mother Groups in Chinkhwili zone with knowledge pertaining to SRHR.
Kwaule also urged community members to work together and ensure that young people have access to accurate information and services to protect them from unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and other sexual health challenges in their localities.
"The organization believes that community involvement is essential in addressing challenges faced by adolescents," said Clement Kwaule.

FAWEMA is implementing a project titled "Innovations for Human Rights and Development (iHEARD)" in the districts of Dowa, Lilongwe, and Ntchisi with financial support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
