FAWEMA Donates Scholastic Materials to Support Girls' Education in Nsanje
FAWEMA donated school supplies to 60 girls in Nsanje.
Nsanje, Malawi- The Forum for African Women Educationists in Malawi (FAWEMA) donated assorted scholastic materials to 60 girls at Thangadzi 1 Primary School in Nsanje, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
The donation, which included notebooks, pens, pencils, and rulers, was made possible through a partnership between FAWEMA and the Malawi Ministry of Education.
"We are committed to supporting girls' education," said Judith Antonio, District Vice Secretary for Nsanje.
"We believe that education is the key to empowering girls and helping them reach their full potential."
Antonio urged girls to stay in school and avoid early marriage.
"Education is the best way to ensure a bright future for yourselves and your families," she said.
Aaron Forty, the headteacher of Thangadzi 1 Primary School, thanked FAWEMA for the donation.
"This donation will go a long way in helping our girls succeed in school," he said.
FAWEMA was founded in 1986 by the late Kitty Kainja, who served as the Education Minister of Malawi.
The organisation works to promote girls' education and empower women in Malawi.
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. But when it's small size, lack of natural resources but very high comparative population are considered, that is not surprising. It must focus on, whilst maximising its existening production areas, making its children highly educated. The people can then develop the country internally in service industries that require high qualifications or go abroad and send money home for development by that method of foreign earned remittances.
Such initiatives as the one in the post though small are commended and highly important.
