FAM Impressed by Improved Standards of Match Officiating

Blantyre, Malawi - The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has expressed its satisfaction with the improved standards of match officiating in the country, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
FAM executive committee member Rashid Ntelela praised the efforts and announced the association's commitment to investing in local referees through various educational courses.
Speaking on the sidelines of an upcoming four-day Elite Refereeing Course, Ntelela emphasised the importance of referees being well-informed about the amendments and changes in the laws of the game.
He emphasised that referees play an important role on the field as custodians of the laws, and their understanding of the rules is critical for consistent application.
Ntelela stated, "The only way we can ensure that the standards are consistent with global rules is through continued education for our referees. Referees have the capacity to make or break a match, as a match's outcome depends on their decisions."
Recognising the significance of referees in the game, both FIFA and the Member Associations support ongoing courses to keep referees updated with the evolving laws of the game.
The four-day refereeing course, set to begin at the end of this month, is expected to attract 30 elite referees from across the country.
