FAM Donates Training Balls to Malawi Super League Teams
Each of the 16 Super League clubs will receive about six balls from the donation.
BLANTYRE, Malawi — The Football Association of Malawi donated 100 footballs to the Super League of Malawi on Monday to help top-flight clubs prepare for the upcoming 2024 season, writes Happy Valirani.
FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda and Technical Director Benjamin Kumwenda handed over the balls to SULOM Chief Executive Officer Faith Mzungu Vilakati at a ceremony at Mpira Stadium.
The balls consist of training balls provided by FIFA as well as prototypes of a planned "Moto" branded ball for use in Malawi, Gunda said.
"We have distributed 100 footballs to SULOM basically for use by teams in the Super League as training balls," he said.
"It is our intention to contribute training equipment to the clubs through SULOM, and we have started with the footballs distributed today."
Each of the 16 Super League clubs will receive about six balls from the donation.
Vilakati praised the "timely donation" from FAM as clubs gear up for the new season starting April 6.
The top two teams from 2023, champions Nyasa Big Bullets and runners-up Silver Strikers, will contest the NBS Charity Shield on March 30.
"Sports equipment is one of the crucial areas the clubs need, and balls are very much in demand," Vilakati said.
"This will go a long way as the clubs prepare."
