Environmental Journalists to Gather for Annual Assembly, Awards in Lilongwe

LILONGWE, Malawi — The Association of Environmental Journalists (AEJ) is set to hold its Annual General Assembly in Lilongwe from Aug. 8-10, 2024, bringing together members from across Malawi to discuss the organization's future and recognize excellence in the field, writes Winston Mwale.
The three-day event, to be held at the Melville Boutique Hotel in Lilongwe's city center, will cover crucial topics and decisions shaping the work and impact of the association.
An elective session is also on the agenda, potentially bringing new leadership to the organization.
Charles Mkoka, Secretary General of AEJ, emphasized the importance of member participation in the assembly.
"This gathering will provide a unique opportunity for members to share insights and discuss the future direction of our association," Mkoka said.
The assembly will culminate with the Green Media Awards ceremony at the Golden Peacock Hotel on Aug. 10.
The awards aim to celebrate outstanding contributions to environmental journalism in Malawi.
