Egypt's Leadership Program Gets Presidential Backing for Fourth Year
The initiative focuses on training and capacity-building for young leaders in executive roles within their communities.
CAIRO — Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will sponsor the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership for the fourth consecutive year, program officials announced Monday, writes Winston Mwale.
The fifth edition will host 150 young leaders from around the world.
Hassan Ghazaly, anthropologist and founder of the Nasser International Forum, said the fellowship aims to transfer Egypt's experience in institution-building and national identity development to emerging leaders.
"The fellowship's impact has reached approximately 11,700 beneficiaries, with branches in 67 countries," Ghazaly said.
The program launched in 2019 as Africa's first youth fellowship during Egypt's African Union presidency.
It has since expanded to include participants from Asia, Australia, Latin America, and Europe.
The fellowship operates alongside other forum initiatives, including the Nasser International Youth Movement for bilateral relations, a media training program, and an opinion portal for independent voices.
Program officials report the fellowship has gained international recognition from participants, diplomats, and decision-makers across previous editions.
The initiative focuses on training and capacity-building for young leaders in executive roles within their communities.
The fellowship operates under the Egyptian Cabinet's framework of South-South cooperation, where Egypt maintains a leading role in the development of partnerships between developing nations.
