DVV International highlights significance of adult education in Malawi
DVV International engages media to highlight Adult Learning and Education (ALE) in Malawi, writes Tionge Hara.
MZUZU, Malawi-DVV International, a leading international organization in adult education and learning, engaged media practitioners from the northern region on April 14, 2023, to enlighten them on Adult Learning and Education (ALE), writes Tionge Hara.
"As ALE, we provide guidance to various stakeholders in implementing strategies and programs aimed at fostering the acquisition of knowledge and skills by adults and targeted youths," said Dyson Mthawanji, DVV International's communications officer.
"We thought of this in order to make journalists understand what ALE is all about so that they should be coming up with good research stories since we sponsor a category at MISA Malawi annual awards.”
Mthawanji also mentioned the great improvement in adult literacy education in Malawi due to the implementation of the policy and strategic plan in 2020, which brought good news.
Despite challenges such as inadequate learning spaces and materials, Mthawanji said DVV International is doing everything possible to come up with a solution.
The Adult Literacy Education sector falls under the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability, and Social Welfare.
