Dowa Police women network organizes fundraising activities to address alarming increase in suicide cases and promote mental health initiatives.
DOWA, MALAWI — In response to the concerning rise in suicide cases in Dowa district, the Dowa Police Women's Network has initiated fundraising activities to support mental health initiatives and prevention programmes, writes Mphatso M'bang'ombe.
This campaign aims to engage the community and raise awareness about the dangers of suicide and early marriage.
Under the leadership of Inspector Tryness Tcheleko, Chairperson for the Dowa Police Network, the fundraising activities commenced on Monday, August 7th, 2023.
The network intends to mobilise resources that will enable them to reach out to communities with messages highlighting the gravity of suicide cases.
"The network recognises the importance of addressing the underlying causes of suicide and providing support to those in crisis," stated Tryness Tcheleko.
The increasing number of suicide cases in Dowa district has instilled concern among local authorities, propelling them to take immediate action to save lives and combat this alarming trend.
