Diocese Trains Officers in Financial and Project Management
The training, led by Diocesan Caritas Secretary Mwawi Shaba, focuses on equipping officers with essential financial and project management skills.
Chitipa, Malawi - Officers working on the Community Transformation (CT) project under the Diocese of Karonga are undergoing a four-day training in Chitipa district, writes Patricia Kayuni.
The training, led by Diocesan Caritas Secretary Mwawi Shaba, focuses on equipping officers with essential financial and project management skills.
Shaba elaborated on the training's core objective: "We aim to enable our officers to effectively monitor fund utilization and report on the progress of our Community Transformation project." The initiative, he emphasized, bears immense significance due to its substantial objectives.
The overarching goal of the training is to ensure that officers fully comprehend their roles and responsibilities, ultimately contributing to the project's resounding success.
This comprehensive training program has drawn officers from the three areas where the CT project is actively implemented: Jalawe in Rumphi, Chankholombe in Karonga, and Kopakopa in Chitipa district.
Participant Grace Kondowe, serving as a nutrition officer in Kopakopa, candidly shared her initial lack of knowledge in financial and project management when she embarked on the project. However, she believes that this training will significantly enhance her capabilities and those of her colleagues, thus empowering them to better fulfill their roles and effectively achieve the project's objectives.
The Community Transformation project spans five years and is made possible through the support of Cross Catholic Outreach. It encompasses diverse interventions, including agriculture, health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, education, and spiritual evangelization (pastoral).
With this training, officers will be better prepared to contribute to the project's success and significantly impact the communities they serve.
